PeaZip 5.5.2 was released yesterday, updating 7-Zip's 7z back-end to latest 9.35 beta version for supporting mainstream archive formats - currently 181 file extensions are recognized by PeaZip file manager.
Alongside other improvements in support for WIM and ZIP files, and enhanced speed for modern CPU, the new back-end set LZMA2 as new default compression algorithm for .7z files, replacing older LZMA, enhancing compression ratio and efficiency.
This release was also focused on improving on-demand archive scan of files, both in filesystem and inside archives, detecting a wider selection of anti-virus and anti-malware products.
Current version automatically recognize and configures:
Avast
AVG / AVG Free
Avira AntiVir Personal
ClamWin
Comodo Cleaning Essentials
ESET NOD32 Antivirus
ESET Smart Security
Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware
Microsoft Windows Defender
